There hardly comes to mind any way to forget the most dreaded terrorist attack in the history of not only US but the mankind. On 9/11, New York city along with the whole world, witnessed the one of the most celebrated edifices to mix up with the dust. But that was not enough, that dust not only left the marks of a frightful day but also affected many by leaving behind the lungs suffering with the disorders caused by the chemicals present in it.
James Zadroga was the first one to be claimed as the first victim to this disorder. He was among the rescue team trying to salvage the people struck in the building debris. In order to provide some relief to the victims, US government enacted a law to provide a financial support for the treatment as well as to compensate the destruction caused to the families of the victims. This act is also known as Zadroga law in the memory of the great James Zadroga, who lost his life while trying to save others during the rescue operation.
The Zadroga act was aimed at extending the scope of the previously present act from the first responders to the other victims residing in the vicinity of the attacked site or suffering from any kind of disorder caused by the contact of the harmful chemicals at the workplace. Zadroga law legitimates every victim having health problems caused by the contact of the harmful chemical substances such as mercury, lead, asbestos and polyvinyl chloride, to file claim against the responsible party. More over this law has provision for the employees to file a claim against the employer working for whom, the employee has suffered from disorders due to the contact with chemicals. The employee can even claim for the non working days due to the ailment so caused.
