Circle Of Friends

[ Edit ]

Circle Of Friends has performed for dances and concerts in Minnesota and Wisconsin since 1996 and is the regular house band for the Home On The Range community dances. Founding members Jim Ganahl and Carol Booth form the nucleus of the band, and they invite various local musicians to join the circle, as needed, for each performance. Jim plays the accordion and the concertina. Carol plays the piano. Guest musicians play guitar, fiddle, flute, banjo, and tin whistle. The Circle Of Friends music repertoire includes a wide variety of dance tunes and ballads from both the American and the European folk music traditions with a special emphasis on Irish music. The Circle Of Friends dance repertoire includes jigs, reels, waltzes, polkas, schottisches, contra dances, circle dances, and playparty games.

Jim and Carol have both learned the unique skill of playing a tune and calling a dance at the same time. They provide friendly dance instruction for dancers of all ages and abilities, and they design their dance programs to meet the special requirements of each group of dancers. Having fun is always the first priority.

Circle Of Friends is available for wedding ceremonies, wedding dances, family reunions, birthday parties, graduation parties, community dances, house dances, dance workshops, and other festive occasions.

For bookings please call Jim or Carol at 218-666-5990.
